Creating a Calendar Event - Team Logic Help System

Creating a Calendar Event

An event app will easily allow your website to have a full featured calendar. Your CMS-Logic website may come pre-configured with an event app. If not, you can easily create one.

Table of Contents

Event app VS an event

When we refer to an event "App" we are talking about ONE application that contains MANY events. Think of the "app" as the calendar on your fridge and the "event" as "Jimmy's swim practice".

You can also have MANY event apps. This means different categories of events. For example, you could have one app titled "General Events" while having another called "Board Meetings". The event calendar on your website will allow visitors to filter these different apps, but they will all be publically viewable.

I have an event app installed........

Existing event applications can be accessed by clicking on the "CMS-Logic" tab and browsing to the "Apps" section. Click on your event app.

Add Event Apps

  • If you are unsure what kind of app you are looking at, hover over the icon for a tool tip
      Event Tooltip
  • Event applications will be named appropriate to their purpose (IE: "Acme Co. Events").
  • A site can have an unlimited number of separate event applications, all for different categories of events. Generally, you will only need one.
  • Event apps are linked to your website in Navigations AND/OR events are embedded in your web page upon creation of a custom web site.

I have an existing website but do not have an event app installed......

You can create an event application as follows:

  1. Click on the "CMS-Logic"
  2. Click on "Calendars" in the "Add Apps" section of the dashboard
      Add events app
  3. Enter the event app name and click the insert button. NOTE: The app name will appear on your website. Make sure it is appropriate to the purpose.
  4. You have now added an event app! You will still need to add a link to this app somewhere on your website. See "adding content to navigations" for help.

Creating an Event

  1. Once in the event app manager (As shown above), click on the "Add" button
     Add Article
  2. An add window will pop up. Enter a title for this event. This will display on the webpage, so make it descriptive (Example: "Board Meeting").
  3. The default selection for the "page type" is "Web Page", this is the best option for most situations.
  4. Click the "Continue" button
  5. You will now be brought to the event edit screen. You will need to fill out the following items:
    • Active? - Uncheck this box if you would not like this event to be displayed immediately. You can re-activate the event at a later time.
    • Also Display On - Generally this is not needed.*
      • * Why? The website visitor will be able to filter between different event apps. Only use this if the event absolutely needs to be displayed on multiple apps no matter what the visitor chooses to filter.
    • Event Dates - The begin date is the day the event occurs.  If the end date is not the same as the begin date, the event will span over multiple days.
    • Event Times - These times are not required, but are recommended if the event has a specific start and end time. They will display on the event details and in certain views the visitor is presented in the website.
    • Allow visitor signup? - Check this box if you would like the visitor to be able to fill out a simple form to "Attend" the event. The details of the signup will be emailed to the "signup notification email" below.
    • Signup notification email - If you are allowing visitor signup, enter a comma-seperated list of emails that should receive notification.
    • Event Color - If you would like to color-code events, you may select an event color. This color will appear in the "Month" view on your website.
  6. You can now add your event details in the editor window. If you are writing a lot of content, it is highly recommended to save often (See next step).
  7. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Your event is now created! If active, you can click the "Preview" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
