Section 2.6: Options

Options are used to allow customers to buy different versions or variations of a product. For example if you are selling shirts, Size and Color would be two options you may want to use.

Options can determine the price, weight and dimension of an item so dimensions and price information should be filled out on each option.

Option Groups

Option group refers to the name of the option. In the above example Size and Color would be the option groups

Add New Option Group

Name: The name of the option group (Size, Color, etc)

Options: Comma separated list of the options you want to add to this group (S,M,L,XL)

Type: If you want to display a list of options for the user to choose from choose "Drop-down". To have a one-line text block for the customer to fill (ex: personalization) out choose "Text". For an entire text area to allow multiple lines of text, choose "Text Box"

Is Required: Makes this option required and forces the user to make a choice for this option.

 

Options

Options are the available choices in that option group. In the above example red, blue and green would be valid options for the Size option group.

Add New Option

Options: Comma separated list of the options you want to add to this group (S,M,L,XL)

Group: The existing option group you want to add the option to.

 

Edit Options

To edit an option, click on the edit icon beside the option you want to edit.

Option Name: The name of the option group

Required: Makes the option group required / not required

Track Inventory: Tracks inventory on this option. Only two options per product can be marked to track inventory. Click here for more information on inventory.

Default Option: Designates which option appears at the top of the drop-down list

Option: The name of the option

Sort: Order the option appears in the list

Price Diff (+/-): The difference in the price this option is from the main product's price. For example if a regular t-shirt was $15 and an XL t-shirt was $18 then we would put 3.00 in the price diff box. You can also subtract from price by putting in -3.00.

Length, Width, Height: The dimensions of this product if this option is chosen.

Weight: The weight of the product if this option is chosen.

Stock No: The stock number of this option

Image: Product image for this option. For example a picture of a red shirt for the red shirt option

Delete: Removes this option from the group
