Setting up Listings Types - Team Logic Help System

Setting up Listings Types

Before adding listings, you will first need to define the types of listings the application will use. Listing types are essentially "templates" that contain the common attributes and features for a given type of listing (For example, "Cars"). Start by clicking on the "Content Management" tab and then "Listing Types & Settings" under the "Settings & Utilities" section.

Within this section you will add your listing types.  Let's use a car dealership as an example. The  application offers several pre-built types. These contain seed data complete with attributes for common listings. Because we are using a car dealership as the example, we will add cars to our listing types.  Select "Add Prebuilt Type" within the top right of the window and select "Cars and Trucks".

Once added you will have 2 tabs within the edit screen:

  • Basic Information
    • Type Name - Name of the Listing Type, this type name is searchable within your website, so be descriptive.
    • Icon - Icon to identify the type, predefined types already have icons created for them.
    • Sort Order - The order in which the types are sorted, this can be useful if you would like your most prominent type to appear first in the searchable list.
    • Display Payment Calculator? - Your website will display a payment calculator on the listings of this type. They will be able to calculate payments based on interest.
    • Inquiry Form - Website users can submit an inquiry to get more information about a specific listing.
      • No Inquiry Form - No form will be displayed
      • Email inquiry details - The inquiry details will be emailed to defined recipients (see "Inquiry Form Email")
      • Create a Project from inquiry (with email notification) - This inquiry will create a new project within the Pipeline CRM Suite (if activated). The website user will be added as a client. Defined recipients will also receive an email notification. Selection of a project type is required.
      • Create a Ticket from inquiry (with email notification) -  This inquiry will create a new ticket within the Pipeline CRM Suite (if activated). The website user will be added as a client. Defined recipients will also receive an email notification. Selection of a ticket type is required.
    • Inquiry Form Email - A comma separated list of email addresses that will receive the inquiry. Examples of input would be "bob@example.com" or "bob@example.com, steve@example.com". Invalid email addresses will be ignored.
  • Attributes
    • Within the attributes tab you can customize and add common attributes that will be selectable when creating a listing. Remember, you are not setting values for these attributes, just setting the attributes that listings of this type will have available to them. Attributes can be of 4 different types:
      • Text (Single Line) - The attribute will be a simple free-form text value. When updating a listing, the values of previously added listings will be selectable to save time.
      • Text (Multiple Lines) - Same as single line, except multiple lines can be added to a single attribute. This is more suited for attributes that have long values.
      • Checkbox (Yes or No) - A simple yes or no checkbox. Attributes with a no value will not be displayed on the listing webpage. A good example would be options within a car, like "Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel" or "Power Brakes".
      • Header - A header is not editable within the listing, it is a layout feature that breaks up multiple attribute sections. For example, the header "Engine" could be added, and all the attributes associated with a car engine would be added below it. These attributes can be sorted to appear below the engine header via the "Sort Order" value.

You can also create listing types from scratch. Use the "Add Custom Type" button in the top right of the window to create a new type. This is essentially the same process as adding pre-built types, except the type will start with no icon or default attributes.

Once you are satisfied with your listing types, you can now access the listings application and add new listings! Keep in mind that if you remove attributes from these types after listings are already associated with them, the current listings will lose those attributes. Also, deleting types with listings associated with them will remove the current listings.
